2-Day Motorcycle Riding School Information
Our 2-Day Motorcycle Riding course offers a comprehensive corner-by-corner look at the 16-turn 2.38 mile Barber Motorsports Park to specifically detail reference points, cornering lines and shift points on every section of racetrack. We take an in-depth look at body positioning, braking more effectively and building confidence at increased lean angles. In addition to on-bike video instruction and classroom review to enhance the student's learning experience, Kevin takes students on a track walk to show you the reference points close-up.
In addition to the catered lunches, drinks and snacks provided each day; students are also treated to a private view of the Barber Motorsports Vintage Museum and then dinner of bench racing with Kevin and the Schwantz School staff the evening of the first day. The 2-Day Motorcycle Riding School at Barber Motorsports Park - including a Schwantz School t-shirt, photo CD, riding DVD, assorted other partner swag, and use of our Michelin Power 2CT-shod Honda CBR600RRs and Suzuki GSX-R600s - is priced at $1,999. Students who wish to bring their own Suzuki or Honda, $1,799. Arai helmets and Dainese riding gear is also available for rent View available dates
Kevin Schwantz burned brightly on the Grand Prix scene and now he can enlighten your riding. He may not make you a world champion (but then again, who knows, maybe he will) but he certainly will pass along a lot of the skills and knowledge that he developed over his career as a world-class rider. Kevin instructs in the classroom and rides at every school. The Kevin Schwantz School is designed for riders of virtually all ability levels. Whether you're a recent learner with just a year or more of riding experience or you're already an accomplished racer, the Schwantz School can teach you the skills to become a more confident, safer and faster rider.
By limiting our class size to no more than 34 students, the Schwantz School isn't the most widely attended school in the country, but it's part of what makes us the best. Going a step further, we divide our classes into two groups. Students learn at a pace that matches their ability and comfort levels, both in the classroom and on the Barber Motorsports Park course. It also allows our seven on-track instructors (some with famous names like Tray Batey, Lee Acree, Michael Martin and Opie Caylor, among others) an unmatched three-to-one student-to-instructor ratio; which insures that you get plenty of one-on-one track instruction under the watchful eyes of our helpful instructors. As an additional learning incentive, we have the Michelin Most Improved Student Award, which awards the most improved student of each class a new set of Michelin motorcycle tires of their choice as well as various other runner-up awards. Continuing with our safety partner program, a Dainese Wave Back Protector will be awarded to the Dainese Safest Student at every school. New for 2010, a drawing at each school for two-credentials to the MotoGP event of the winner´s choice.
Our classroom lecture sessions, conducted by Kevin and his Classroom Instructor, cover points such as:
- Visual awareness and concentration
- Body position and steering
- Cornering lines and reference points
- Gear selection and shifting
- Braking
- Staying smooth and building confidence
